Max Andrews did Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Falmouth College of Arts in 1995, before going on to the University of Brighton (BA Critical Fine Art Practice) and the Royal College of Art (MA Curating Contemporary Art).

Kader Attia was born in 1970 into an Algerian family in Paris. He studied both Philosophy and Fine Art in Paris and spent a year at Barcelona’s School of Applied Art in 1993.

Bassam el Baroni is a curator and art critic from Alexandria, Egypt. He is the co-founder and director of Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum (ACAF), a collectively run, non-profit art space which has been in operation since December 2005.

Born in London in 1965, Adam Chodzko initially studied History of Art at the University of Manchester (1985-88) before completing a Masters in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, London (1992-94).

Steven Claydon was born in London in 1969.  His practice explores the inconsistent relationships that he identifies between writing, representations and objects, most often through perceptive, calculated juxtapositions in a variety of media: sculpture, painting, collage and film.

Born in Canterbury, England in 1965, Tacita Dean studied fine art at Falmouth School of Art (1985-88) and later at the Slade School of Fine Art in London (1990-92). She moved to Berlin in 2000, initially to take up a DAAD scholarship.

Born in 1956 in Dôle in the Jura region of France, Xavier Douroux studied History of Art at the University of Burgundy before becoming an Associate Lecturer in the history of contemporary art, specialising in the history of exhibitions, at the same institution.

Born in 1967 in British Columbia, Farmer attended the San Francisco Art Institute, California (1991-92) and the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, British Columbia in 1993.

Born in London, UK in 1982, Simon Fujiwara moved to Carbis Bay near St Ives at the age of four and lived in Cornwall until he was sixteen. After a year spent in Japan he completed his secondary education in London and then took a BA in Architecture at Cambridge University before moving to the Städelschule Hochschule fur Bildende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, where he studied fine art.

Tom van Gestel studied Art History at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. From 1983 to 1995 he worked as the Head of the Visual Arts Commissions agency of the Ministry of Culture and then joined the Mondrian Foundation, where he held the post of Head of the Visual Arts Commissions Department until 1999. Since then he has been the artistic leader, senior curator and adjunct director of SKOR (Foundation for Art and Public Space).

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1964, Lucy Gunning studied at Falmouth College of Art (1984-87) and Goldsmiths College, London (1992-94). She has had solo exhibitions in London, throughout the UK and Europe, and internationally in locations including New York and Vancouver.

Jeremy Millar has exhibited widely, with recent, current and forthcoming solo exhibitions at the National Maritime Museum, London; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; HICA, near Inverness; and the Ethnographic Museum, Krakow; and numerous group exhibitions including The Dark Monarch at Tate St Ives.

Born in Zurich, Switzerland in May 1968, Hans Ulrich Obrist became Co-director of Exhibitions and Programmes and Director of International Projects at the Serpentine Gallery in April 2006, joining Julia Peyton-Jones, the Serpentine Gallery Director. Prior to this he was Curator of the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris from 2000.

Born in Gdansk, Poland in 1976, Paulina Olowska studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1996) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland (1997-2000).  She has undertaken scholarships and residencies in The Hague, Lisbon, Japan and at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.

Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1973, Solveig Øvstebø undertook post-graduate studies in art history at the University of Bergen and has been Director of Bergen Kunsthall since 2003, developing it into one of the main contemporary art institutions in Norway, with a focus on production, research and discourse.

Andrzej Przywara is a curator, art critic and art historian. Born in 1968 in Zebrzydowice, Poland, he studied Art History at Warsaw University (1988-94).

Steven Rowell is an artist and researcher based in Berlin and Los Angeles, working with photography as well as with audio and video recordings captured in the field.

Lives and works in Banff, Canada

Kitty Scott is Director, Visual Arts at The Banff Centre, Banff, a post she has held since 2007. Previously she was Chief Curator at the Serpentine Gallery, London, and Curator, Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Canada.
